When it comes to gastronomical affairs, Kolkata stands out among other metropolitans in its own way— from the delicious Biriyanis to the succulent Rosogollas to end your meal on a sweet note. And as much as we take pride in the food scene in Kolkata and go on raving endlessly to our friends from other cities; we do take the backbench when it comes to some famous food chains that they have and we don’t.

Here’s a list of famous food chains that every foodie in Kolkata would absolutely wish for.

Starbucks

Now, this is without an iota of doubt, every coffee lover’s heaven on Earth. As fancy as it may seem from afar, and there may be few who would simply criticize it saying it’s just unnecessarily expensive, you’ll know the truth once you taste the spectacular range of coffees from Starbucks.

Mad Over Donuts

This Indian donut chain is literally giving the big guns in the donut industry a run for their money. The donuts here are to die for and though the chain which started initially from a small café in Mumbai has expanded to other cities; it is yet to step foot in Kolkata. Their ‘Double Trouble’ donut is known to cause some seriously sweet trouble for the taste buds. Well, here’s hoping they start shop for the sweetest people in the country soon.

Burger King

As much as we love to hog on the burgers from KFC & McDonald’s, we surely wouldn’t mind the King of burgers in town. The delicious fire-grilled Whoppers and onion rings are something every Kolkattan would want to have not just when they travel out of town but also when they’re back.

Soda Bottle Opener Wala

This joint is giving the country a taste of Parsi Cuisine with a touch of panache. And thanks to the eclectic ambiance and presentation, people don’t mind spending some extra buck for their new found love for Parsi food. The Parsi population may be dwindling in our cities but thanks to SodaBottleOpenerWala, they are reviving their culture by making Parsi cuisine the mainstream.

Dunkin Donuts

Renowned world over for their amazing donuts, Dunkin Donuts is the go to place if you’re craving something bittersweet— kickass coffee and donuts. You won’t go wrong here if all you got is a donut on your mind. Perhaps it’ll take a while for them to sink in the fact that Kolkata too could do some dunk-in.

Taco Bell

Kolkattans love to experiment with their food, and there’s a great deal of people out there who love to dig into some Mexican fare as and when possible. And tacos are the quintessential Mexican food that everyone loves to snack on, but wouldn’t it be great if you could have it quick and on the go? That’s where Taco Bell comes in— quick, tasty & on the go.

Nando’s

Nando’s is known for their seriously spicy affair with food, and if you dig that then you’re at the right place. The Nando’s flame landed in India way back in 2010 and soon there were 3 Nando’s restaurants across the country. It didn’t take long for people to fall in love with the addictive taste of our flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken and now they have 8 restaurants in Punjab, Delhi, Chennai, and Bangalore. Hopefully, Kolkata soon.

Naturals Ice Cream

Started out as a small shop in Mumbai, over the course of time Naturals has become a name to reckon with in the Ice Cream world. They make their ice creams from only natural and organic raw materials without any flavoring agents or chemical stabilizers whatsoever. And that’s what makes their ice creams distinctly tasty in a very natural way, of course! You literally feel like you’re having the fruit. Perhaps Naturals would be a good break from the usual ice cream fare in Kolkata.

P.S. We don’t think Kolkata’s food scene is not on par, just that these few additions to the scene would help ace the food game.
