The next time you happen to be at Quest Mall, there is one experience that you cannot simply afford to miss. In the basement tucked away to the side is a little stall called Batcaves. At first glance this seems to be just another popcorn vendor, however, do not be fooled, Batcaves is the best place for gourmet popcorn in Kolkata (Yes, you did read that correctly, Gourmet Popcorn).
Gourmet Popcorn in Kolkata, say what?
With over twenty flavours, Batcaves sells flavours from the good old Cheddar Cheese Popcorn for Rs 80 to the luxurious dark chocolate variation for Rs 125. Other than the sweet flavours there is also an array of savory ones such as peri peri for Rs 80 and Nacho Mexicana for Rs 80. Other great flavours were the ginger spiced caramel for Rs 125 and Lemon Garlic for Rs 80, as bizarre as they may sound they were all amazing.
Not just popcorn
At the higher exotic range, if you are not in the mood for popcorn, you can pick up some gourmet dry roasted nuts or some rich scrumptious cocoa for Rs 250.
It has a variable price range between Rs 100 to Rs 250. The pocket pinch is definitely worth it, especially compared to the popcorn you find at convenience stores.
The popcorn is carefully kept warm, and the first bite is just a beautiful melt-in-your-mouth experience. Before you question whether it is worth it or not, you can try out free samples before you make your Herculean decision.
You can then go on to eat your gourmet popcorn in Kolkata while roaming the mall or get it packed and take it away in a very cute package that keeps your delicious popcorn warm. Hopefully, sometime in the near future, more stalls open around the city making it more accessible to those not willing to make the journey down to quest mall everytime they crave popcorn.
However, the only downside is that next time those regular cheese or tomato-chili popcorns at the cinema just won’t cut it. Here’s to hoping they start serving Batcave popcorn at your local theatre before we need to start sneaking it in. We wish to hear back about how you felt about it – did you love it or did you feel gourmet popcorn in Kolkata was just a bit much?
