Avid readers of all ages eagerly wait for the Kolkata International Book Fair 2018 all year long where they can shop till they drop and go home with bundles of books!
It is the world’s largest non-trade book fair with a total footfall of over 2 million people annually. You can find booksellers, singers, vendors and picnic-ers flocking to the book fair grounds during the mela. Kolkata International Book Fair 2018 is the perfect milieu of art, culture, literature and everything that shouts Kolkata!
With only 14 days left to go for the Kolkata International Book Fair 2018, we have compiled a list of everything you would need to know about our favourite Boi Mela.
When is it happening?
Kolkata International Book Fair 2018 will be inaugurated on Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 at 4.30 PM in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee and other dignitaries.
The mela will be on from January 31st, 2018 to February 11th, 2018.
What are the timings?
The boi mela will be held from 12 noon to 8 PM every day.
Where is the venue?
This year the Kolkata International Book Fair 2018 will not be happening at the usual Milan Mela grounds, but will take place at Central Park Mela Ground in Salt Lake.
Theme Country: France
The focal theme of Kolkata International Book Fair 2018 is France. This year on the occasion of the 70th year of the Indo-France diplomatic relationship, the cultural wing of the French Embassy is organizing the Bonjour India Festival in selected cities of India.
The Bonjour India festival will start at Jaipur and its closing ceremony will be held at the 42nd Kolkata International Book Fair 2018.
Did you know?
France will confer its highest order of merit, the Legion of Honour, on legendary film and theatre actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay at the 42nd Kolkata International Book Fair 2018.
