Sandipan Mukherjee, an internationally claimed photographer has won hearts with his photographs. His solo photography exhibition ‘On Broken Trails’ is going to be held at ICCR, Kolkata from 22nd December, 2018 to 28th December, 2018 (3pm-8pm daily). This exhibition will showcase the life at a cold desert – Nubra Valley at Ladakh, India.

‘On Broken Trails’ is a book of photo essays on Nubra Valley. This book isn’t one with photo album giving treat to the eyes or a book with stories that will enhance your interest for stories over a coffee table. It’s a result of extensive research work of six visits. It’s almost a complete treatise on the land and life of the remote and inaccessible cold
desert. The narrative of this book strings 90 spectacular images spanning across diverse
photographic genres like landscape, portrait, documentary, nature, pictorial and deals with, among other subjects, the history, geography, environment, sociology, anthropology, economics, linguistics,lifestyle and military affairs of the region. The selection boasts of several international award winning photographs.

The Author – Sandipan Mukherjee, is a teacher by profession, he also has been a free-lance contributor to The Times of India, The Statesman, The Hindustan Times, The Asian Age and Bhraman. His photographs have been featured in several international publications like
Better Photography, Asian Development Bank, People and Planet and the Sony World
Photography Awards. As the winner of the prestigious Wanderlust Travel Photo of the Year
2013 (People) Contest organized by the Wanderlust Magazine, UK, Sandipan Mukherjee earned a 9-day-long customized Photo Trip for two to Jordan, sponsored entirely by the Jordan Tourism Board who also presented the photos from that tour in a widely acclaimed solo exhibition at ICCR, Kolkata.
