Captain Bheri Eco Aquatic Hub
Our favourite picnic spots in Kolkata are at Captain Bheri which has two designated picnic spots which can be booked for a day at the cost of INR 5000.
The place is right off the E. M. Bypass road, the nearest landmark being the Chingrighata more. Entry fee is INR 25 and for senior citizens its INR 15. As you walk through the park you’ll be educated by the various exhibits promoting pisciculture- ranging from huge aquariums to fish breeding tanks, which are open to public viewing.
The other side of the walkway is surrounded by the ‘jheel'(small lake) and there are benches interspersed for the ones wanting to sit and seek calm from the quiet sounds of the water body.
Also there are pier-led gazebos made right on the jheel if one wants to get any closer to the water.

Sukantanagar Samity Bheri
As far as picnic spots in Kolkata go, this place is surely the most difficult to find out of the lot.
While coming from Nicco Park, take the left turn before Sukantanagar bus stop, just before reaching Nabajyoti Sporting Club. A short straight road takes you to this place. There are strips of land separating the bheris and the view that’s on offer is to kill for.
The best part here though is that if you can strike a rapport with the fishermen there, they wouldn’t mind taking you for a short spin on their boat.
Timing- 6 am to 5 pm
They have 7 picnic spots available for booking between Rs 1000 and Rs 1500
