W.H. Auden, the Anglo-American poet, said, “Poetry is the clear expression of mixed feelings”; and with such a glow came together a rhyme of poets, with varied perspectives and expressions, from the city to celebrate poetry as not just a niche in itself but a revolution in vogue. Poetry Paradigm, an eminent city based poets’ group, conjured up their first lyrical evening for the mysterious poem known as Kolkata.
This was the first ever and one of a kind initiative taken to bring the poetic forces of the city under one roof which followed by poetry performances by the prolific poets of Poetry Paradigm− Ashoke Vishwanathan, Arthur Cardozo, Ananya Chatterjee, Joie Bose and Saira Shah Halim. Being an open-mic event, we saw spontaneous participation from the guests and it must be reckoned that the city has not lost its poetic charm.
Given the grandeur of the pop-up, it is assured to be a hit at the upcoming Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival 2016 to be held between 15th and 17th January. The next Poetry Paradigm’s pop-up is slated to be held in the first week of December.
