All of us are well accustomed with the ice bucket challenge that was initiated to promote awareness for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and raise funds for its research; but here in India we need desi solutions for our desi problems.
Hence rice bucket challenge was born, conceptualised by Manju Latha Kalanidhi and Vijeye Devuni with the aim of providing a bucket of rice as a donation for the deprived.
And in keeping with the aim of the Rice Bucket Challenge, Md. Tauseef Rahman & Zara Chisty (Taj Leather Works) in association with iVolunteer and Tiljala SHED is organising the rice bucket challenge here in the city of joy. The challenge is simple− Donate a bucket of rice (or any amount you wish) at the collection point situated at 77 B Karaya Road, Taj Leather works or if you wish to get your bucket of rice picked up from home contact 9831262079(Md. Tauseef)/9830418877(Zara Chisty) on or before 13th of December 2015. That’s all you need to do to take a step towards adding meaning to the society we live in.
What happens after you donate a bucket of rice?
All the rice gathered at the collection centre will be packed into 5kg packets of rice and then distributed to the poor and deprived living mostly in slums in and around the city.
