15th of October may have been a regular Saturday evening for all, but while everyone was coping with the post-Puja gloom, Cultyard hosted the second edition of RooFies – a roof top music and arts event!
As promised, there was music, lights, art, good food and fun.
Held at Flower Valley in Gariahat, the home ground of the organizers, RooFies had people coming in a gleeful. Upon walking in and being greeted to the sight of a terrace filled with greenery and lights, it’s difficult not to escape the mundane daily chirp of the city.
The event kick-started with a light performance from Madhav and his group, a talented bunch of young budding musicians who recently were the talk of the town for their initiative of playing music to raise money for charity during Durga Puja.
The line-up of performances included a power packed session by Shinjini Nag, a soulful original soundtrack performed by The Soham.
Those were followed by a performance from the duo Soumalya Das & Sid Sharma that set the mood for the evening. The finishing act by Projjwal Bhattacharya set the crowd rolling.
Not to forget, the live canvas painting by Koushani Roy added a little bit of versatility to the otherwise music lovers’ event. The artwork provided by Chillum Ink seemed to give the place a very positive vibe. People also stopped by The Beacon Kolkata Selfie Booth to capture some happy moments.
If you missed RooFies this time, there’s little to worry as its back on the 5th of November and with a twist this time.
If you were busy with Diwali celebrations and felt you missed out on the chance to dawn your favourite Halloween attire then fear not for this time RooFies has a Halloween theme and you have the opportunity to pull up your masks, put on that spooky make-up and get yourself dressed in your scariest costume for the next edition of the most happening rooftop extravaganza in the city.
With performances from Zeeshan Akhtar Collective, Sujay Biswas, comedians from Comedified & Kalkutta Comedians, and more cool acts, the night is guaranteed to be awesome!
And if you’re still wondering why you should turn up for the next event, here’s a little sneak peek of how it’s going to be
